Pakistan corona positivity rate drops to 0.94
11 more deaths due to Coronavirus infection and 400 positive cases have been reported in the country in a single day.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre's statistics, 42,373 tests were conducted on Monday and positivity ratio remained 0.94 percent.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 12,954 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 7,598 in Sindh 5,774 in KP, 947 in Islamabad, 741 in Azad Kashmir, 358 in Balochistan, and 186 in GB.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday announced that the fixed tax regime for the construction sector has been extended to December 31, 2021. PM Khan said that the construction industry was waiting for such a development, adding that an extension to the fixed tax regime was a 'big demand' from the industry and now it will have an extra year at its disposal. The PM was speaking during a weekly review meeting of high-priority economic sectors along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning Moeed Yusuf. Pakistan, Iran set $5bn trade target by 2023

Pakistan and Iran have agreed to take measures to expand the annual trade exchanges to $5 billion by the year 2023. “Understanding of the new trade target was reached during the ninth meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee held in Tehran,” said a commerce ministry official announcement released on Saturday. Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Reza Fatemi Amin said both countries were determined to expand annual trade exchanges. Emphasizing the need for accurate programming in a way that provides Pakistani partners with the opportunity to invest in Iran, the minister said that hurdles would be lifted within three months to pave the way for expansion of free trade. FIA files case against Jahangir Tareen in sugar scam, money laundering

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed two FIRs against Jahangir Tareen and two other family members in sugar scandal and money laundering charges, on Wednesday. FIA Lahore registered cases against CEO of JWD Sugar Mills, Jahangir Tareen, his son Ali Tareen and son-in-law in the sugar scam. “Over three billion rupees money laundering made by showing investment in a closed factory,” according to the FIR. The investigation agency has also charged Tareen and others for illegal hoarding of sugar, misappropriation and cheating in the FIR. CEO of JWD Sugar Mills in an act of forgery transferred 3.14 billion rupees to a closed company, the FIR read. “In year 2011-12 over three billion rupees were transferred to Farooqi Pulp Milk Ltd,” according to the case. In year 2011-12 Tareen and family members also purchased dollars from the open market. COAS Bajwa awarded highest UAE honour

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was conferred with the Order of the Union Medal, the second highest honour of United Arab Emirates, for his distinguished efforts in strengthening UAE-Pakistan ties. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief had paid an official visit to United Arab Emirates and called on UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. Pakistan wants to establish trading relations with all other countries to lift people out of poverty rather than becoming part of any bloc, Prime Minister Imran Khan said. PPP leader and former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani has stepped down as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate after his absence led to the passage of the State Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2021, in the Upper House of the Parliament. "I have submitted my resignation to my party; I do not want to to be the Opposition leader anymore," Gillani said while addressing on the floor of the Senate.
