Instagram accuse of spying on Iphone users

iPhone users noticed that in iOS 14 beta, Instagram turned on the camera even when people were just scrolling through the feed. Company representatives say this is a bug that they will fix in the update.

According to Instagram’s management, the problem lies with the operating system, and the app doesn’t actually have access to the camera. The program turns on the indicator, but the camera itself can only be activated by the user. It is worth noting that this is not the first bug noticed in the new version of iOS.

“We only access your camera when you allow us to — for example when you swipe from tape to camera. We have found and are fixing a bug in the iOS 14 beta that mistakenly indicates that some people use the camera when they don’t”, said an Instagram spokesman. “In such cases, we do not get access to your camera, no content is recorded”

A user shared a screen shot of the notification on the control panel after scrolling through their Instagram feed – it is a round circle with the ‘recorder indicator’ in the center.

According to experts, you shouldn’t definitely trust Instagram’s statement. Previously, a similar situation happened with Facebook: the application also turned on the camera indicator without the user’s knowledge in the previous version of iOS.

The experts also point out that users need to remember that the new version of iOS is still in the testing stage and is intended for developers so that they can customize applications. However, they recommended checking all notifications coming from apps, carefully reading the permissions that are requested before downloading.

Petrol may go up by Rs25, HSD by Rs40

The federal government is mulling over a plan to cut subsidies on petroleum products in phases -- Rs25 per litre on petrol and Rs40 per litre on high speed diesel (HSD) in the first one -- in a bid to reduce the volume of the mounting price differential claims. The prices of petrol and high speed diesel (HSD) will jump up to Rs195 per litre and Rs230 per litre respectively, if the federal government withdraws all the subsidies on them at once. The subsidies on petroleum products continue to swell because of higher global oil prices and depreciation of the local currency against the US dollar that may lead to a higher budget deficit. In addition, the government is also facing problems of balance of payment and wants to avail the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout package. Sources said that government is currently giving a subsidy of Rs29.60 per litre on petrol. FIA files case against Jahangir Tareen in sugar scam, money laundering

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed two FIRs against Jahangir Tareen and two other family members in sugar scandal and money laundering charges, on Wednesday. FIA Lahore registered cases against CEO of JWD Sugar Mills, Jahangir Tareen, his son Ali Tareen and son-in-law in the sugar scam. “Over three billion rupees money laundering made by showing investment in a closed factory,” according to the FIR. The investigation agency has also charged Tareen and others for illegal hoarding of sugar, misappropriation and cheating in the FIR. CEO of JWD Sugar Mills in an act of forgery transferred 3.14 billion rupees to a closed company, the FIR read. “In year 2011-12 over three billion rupees were transferred to Farooqi Pulp Milk Ltd,” according to the case.
