Shaheen Afridi promises to perform his best for Lahore Qalandars in PSL 2022

Pakistan's pace bowling sensation, Shaheen Shah Afridi, who will now captain Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars, has pledged to take the team ahead and perform his best, both in bowling and captaining.

Lahore Qalandars have named Shaheen Afridi their captain for the seventh edition of the PSL.

"Our team has good openers and the middle order is also the best," the star bowler said.

Shaheen said that there shouldn't be an impression that fast bowlers cannot lead a team as the captain since bowlers, including Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, have served as the captain for the national squad in the past.

He said that he has always received respect from Lahore Qalandars and tried to perform well for the team.

"It's an honour [for me] that I'm captaining the team which I started the PSL with," said Shaheen while expressing gratitude towards the franchise.

Shaheen took to Twitter to thank Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana and other officials for giving him the opportunity.

Earlier, Shaheen had said that he is looking forward to captaining Lahore Qalandars in the PSL if given the opportunity.

He had lauded the management of Lahore Qalandars during a virtual press conference, hailing it as "exceptionally good."

"It's thrilling to perform for the Lahore Qalandars, I've been playing with them for a number of years," he had said.

Tesla pulls games on moving car screens after US safety probe

Electric carmaker Tesla Inc will stop allowing video games to be played on vehicle screens while its cars are moving, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Thursday. The move follows an announcement by the NHTSA on Wednesday that it had opened a formal safety investigation on 580,000 Tesla vehicles sold since 2017 over the automaker's decision to allow games to be played on the front center touchscreen while they are in motion. FIA files case against Jahangir Tareen in sugar scam, money laundering

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed two FIRs against Jahangir Tareen and two other family members in sugar scandal and money laundering charges, on Wednesday. FIA Lahore registered cases against CEO of JWD Sugar Mills, Jahangir Tareen, his son Ali Tareen and son-in-law in the sugar scam. “Over three billion rupees money laundering made by showing investment in a closed factory,” according to the FIR. The investigation agency has also charged Tareen and others for illegal hoarding of sugar, misappropriation and cheating in the FIR. CEO of JWD Sugar Mills in an act of forgery transferred 3.14 billion rupees to a closed company, the FIR read. “In year 2011-12 over three billion rupees were transferred to Farooqi Pulp Milk Ltd,” according to the case. In year 2011-12 Tareen and family members also purchased dollars from the open market. The World Bank has suspended its aid to Sudan, after the military there staged a coup against the civilian government.   According to international media reports political leaders were arrested on Monday, sparking nationwide protests and international condemnation. The African Union (AU) has also suspended Sudan from the bloc over the "unconstitutional" seizure of power. The US has frozen $700m (£508m) in aid. According to media report Sudan's civilian and military leaders had been in a fragile power-sharing agreement for the past two years. Pakistan, Iran set $5bn trade target by 2023

Pakistan and Iran have agreed to take measures to expand the annual trade exchanges to $5 billion by the year 2023. “Understanding of the new trade target was reached during the ninth meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee held in Tehran,” said a commerce ministry official announcement released on Saturday.
