Teachers in Islamabad continued their protest outside Parliament House

Teachers and staffers belonging to government schools in Islamabad continued their protest on Thursday and staged a demonstration outside the Parliament House.

Per the report, the teachers of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) are protesting against the decision to hand over the management of public schools to the municipal corporation and are demanding the reversal of the decision.

Teachers had staged a similar protest in early December and decided to retake to the streets today as the government did not meet their demands.

After a few hours, the participants of the protests decided to disperse, saying that the FDE Joint Action Committee (JAC) would devise a future strategy related to the issue.

Leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) also united with the teachers and took part in the protest.

While the protest was called off in the evening, the JAC threatened to block the streets of Islamabad and close educational institutions if the government fails to meet their demands once again.

It is pertinent to mention that owing to the last protest, educational activities had to be suspended in the public schools of Islamabad for three days.

Western sanctions against Russia could cause the International Space Station to crash, the head of Russian space agency Roscosmos warned on Saturday, calling for the punitive measures to be lifted. The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. Pakistan Army on Monday continued its relief and rescue operation in Karachi, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Army personnel removed rainwater from underpasses located at Golimar, Golimar and KPT, adding that these underpasses have been reopened for traffic. However, the dewatering process was continued in various areas inundated with rainwater, read the statement. Monsoon rains add to Karachi’s woes, kill two youngsters

A powerful monsoon system formed in the Arabian Sea caused torrential downpours in various parts of Karachi Sunday evening, but it claimed the lives of two youngsters. According to the police, a woman and her three-month-old daughter fell into a flooded nullah in the Buffer Zone area while they were passing through on a motorbike. The woman was rescued in an unconscious state, while a search for her daughter was initiated.
