Police barred from arresting Attaullah Tarar

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday stopped the police from arresting Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s Special Assistant Attaullah Tarar. The high court also approved the protective bail of PM Shehbaz's aide.  Acting Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq issued a verdict, ordering the police to not arrest Tarar in response to his plea seeking security. Tarar approached the high court for protective bail following a case of violence PTI workers registered against him on May 25, due to which the police raided his residence to arrest him on August 13. A first information report (FIR) was registered against him at Lahore’s Qila Gujjar Singh Police Station. PM’s special assistant pleaded with the IHC to approve his application for protective bail. Earlier, the Punjab Police conducted a raid at Tarar's house in the G-3 area of Johar Town in Lahore. The NIH stated that during the past 24 hours, a total of 18,045 diagnostic tests were conducted, of which 581 samples came out positive. Punjab CM announces free education up to graduation level

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi announced free education up to graduation will be free in the province. Punjab Chief Minister Elahi has announced Rs300,000 for disabled girls who sing the national anthem. He also announced Rs50,000 for the lead singer, while Rs 100,000 will be given to the police band and Rs200,000 to the scouts. Heavy rains kill 10 more in Balochistan

The fresh spell of heavy rains has further aggravated the misery of people in Balochistan as 10 more citizens were killed during the last three days. The rain-hit infrastructure badly affected the traffic movements at the Kohlu-Quetta National Highway. Besides this, an event related to Independence Day was also postponed due to extreme weather conditions. As many as 200 houses were damaged in Qila Abdullah due to flash floods, while most link roads and bridges were washed away. In addition, two people drowned in flash floods in Toba Achakzai, while the lower areas were submerged in Barkhan, Rakhni, Dera Bugti, Sheerani, Koh-e-Sulieman, Ziarat and Qila Saifullah, The News reported. Two Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom in Harnai, Balochistan during a gun battle with terrorists, the military’s media affairs wing said on Sunday. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said terrorists fire raided a security forces post in Harnai’s Khost area on late Saturday night which was successfully repulsed by soldiers. The armed attackers attempted to flee after ambushing the forces, the ISPR said. “The escaping terrorists were pursued into the nearby mountains and an exchange of heavy fire ensued, and as a result, two valiant sons of soil, Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum embraced martyrdom,” the statement added. PM Shehbaz to unveil newly recorded National Anthem on August 14

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will launch the re-recorded national anthem composed with modern technology on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. Shehbaz Sharif will become the second elected prime minister after Liaquat Ali Khan who will have this unique honour. The National Anthem has been re-recorded after 68 years, with the participation of 155 singers, 48 musicians and 6 bandmasters. The project has been completed in collaboration with various departments including Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The FBI recovered documents that were labeled “top secret” from former US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. According to international media a property receipt unsealed by the court on Friday shows FBI agents took 11 sets of classified records from the estate during a search. The property receipt is a document prepared by federal agents to specify what was taken during a search. The seized records include some that were marked as classified and some top secret. Lahore Police have deployed over 5,000 personnel across the provincial capital to guard the metropolis during the Independence Day celebrations. Lahore CCPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said that the police will take strict action against one-wheelers and those involved in aerial firing and hooliganism. Dogar said that six SPs, 35 DSPs, and 84 SHOs along with lady Police, and Anti-Riot Force personnel will perform duty tonight and on August 14th. Pakistan reports 728 new COVID-19 cases

The number of fresh coronavirus cases in Pakistan rose to 728 during the past 24 hours, according to the data shared by the National Institute of Health (NIH) on Saturday. The institute also registered three virus led casualties during the same time period. The NIH said 20,272 diagnostics tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours which resulted in a 3.59% positivity ratio. Currently, 161 Covid-19 patients are receiving healthcare in critical care units of different hospitals all over the country. Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic at least 30,523 people have lost their lives to the disease. Police raid PM’s aide Atta Tarar’s house

The Punjab Police conducted a raid on the residence of Special Assistant to Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar in Lahore. However, Attaullah Tarar, was not present at his residence. Reacting to the development, the PML-N leader criticised Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar and asked him not to cross the line in defence of the “anti-state narrative”. “Hashim Dogar Sahib! you have turned out to be a very unserious character,” he added. "What do you want to prove by sending the police to a house where I lived 15 years ago?" Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Balochistan killing at least six more and injuring at least 20. According to details, in Balochistan’s Qila Abdullah, flash flood claimed two lives and 20 others went missing when a tractor trolley sank. Warning have been issued through mosques in most affected areas while people were forced to abandon their homes and seek refuge on hills.
