PM Shehbaz to unveil newly recorded National Anthem on August 14

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will launch the re-recorded national anthem composed with modern technology on the occasion of 75th Independence Day.

Shehbaz Sharif will become the second elected prime minister after Liaquat Ali Khan who will have this unique honour. The National Anthem has been re-recorded after 68 years, with the participation of 155 singers, 48 musicians and 6 bandmasters.

The project has been completed in collaboration with various departments including Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The brass bands of all three armed forces also participated in this national effort.

The re-recording of the national anthem began in August 2017 during the previous tenure of PML-N. A steering committee headed by former Senator Javed Jabbar with audio and visual sub-committees was formed.

After assuming charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in April this year, Maryam Aurangzeb expedited work of completing the project The ministry along with other institutions, departments and a large number of artists worked together to complete the national effort.

About 155 singers, 48 composers and six band masters participated in the preparation of the anthem. The noteworthy fact is that it was recorded with a new orchestra and cinematography.

The new recording of the National Anthem is a rainbow of cultural, civilizational and regional colours, which gives a message of unity, brotherhood and regional identity.

The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The development came during a meeting of Opposition party leaders in Islamabad, where they decided to form a committee that would draft a plan of action to move the no-confidence motion. Yesterday's proceedings in the NA marked the "darkest day for democracy in Pakistan's history," the Opposition leaders observed, according to the sources. Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
