The per tola gold price witnessed an increase of Rs 1,000 to Rs 117,500 in the domestic market.

Likewise, the price of 10-gram gold witnessed an increase of Rs 857 and was traded at Rs10,0737, said All Pakistan Jewelers Association.

According to Reuters, gold rebounded over 2% on Friday, a day after a steep sell-off, as the U.S. dollar weakened and the U.S. Federal Reserve signaled a prolonged low interest rate strategy.

Spot gold rose 1.8% to $1,964.47 per ounce by 02:25 p.m. EDT, taking gains this week to about 1.3%. Prices fell as much as 2.2% on Thursday after U.S. Treasury yields gained following a speech by Fed Chair Jerome Powell on the strategy. U.S. gold futures settled up 2.2% at 1,974.90.

Earlier on August 26, the gold prices had declined by Rs500 per tola and was traded at Rs116000 in the domestic market.

Likewise, the price of 10-gram gold had witnessed a decrease of Rs 428 and was traded at Rs99451, said All Pakistan Jewelers Association. Meanwhile, gold rates in the international market had fallen by $8 to $1,917 per ounce.

Six more die in rain-related incidents in Karachi

At least six people lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Friday as heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi, bringing up the toll in three days to 14. Following a rain forecast, different areas of the port city continued to receive moderate to heavy showers under the influence of a monsoon system that is present over Karachi. The most rain was recorded in the Gulshan-e-Hadeed neighbourhood, which received 94.7mm of rain during two spells. The Shah Latif police said Ruqayya Mubeen Shah, 38, was working at home in Bhains Colony when she got an electric shock and died, adding that her body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said that "no one can snatch away jobs given by the parliament", vowing to appeal a Supreme Court verdict that declared a PPP-era law unconstitutional and illegal. Under the PPP-era Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Ordinance Act (SERA) 2010 law, a number of people had been employed or given promotions who had been forcibly sacked from various institutions and departments by successive governments during 1996 and 2007. Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved an increase in the salaries of government employees a day after they protested in Islamabad. Sources say a government negotiating team comprising Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan called on the premier Thursday.
