Hafeez becomes first male cricketer to score 2,000 runs and take 50 wickets in T20Is

Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez on Sunday added another feather to his cap when he became the first male cricketer in T20I to score 2,000 runs and take 50 wickets in the shortest format of the game.

The 39-year old reached the milestone during Pakistan’s 2nd T20I against England — which was the 89th inning of his career — at Manchester by smashing a six off Saqib Mahmood to reach the 2,000 runs mark.

With already 54 T20I wickets to his name, Hafeez became the first-ever player in T20I to have the double whammy of 2,000 runs and 50 wickets to his name.

However, three women cricketers — Deandra Dottin of West Indies, Sophie Devine of New Zealand and Stafanie Taylor of West Indies — have already achieved the unique double of 50 international wickets and 2,000 international runes in T20 cricket.

Hafeez is only 2nd Pakistani and overall ninth batsman to complete 2,000 runs in international cricket.

The all-rounder has represented Pakistan in 93 T20Is and is one of the most experienced players around the world in the shortest format of the game.

The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said that "no one can snatch away jobs given by the parliament", vowing to appeal a Supreme Court verdict that declared a PPP-era law unconstitutional and illegal. Under the PPP-era Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Ordinance Act (SERA) 2010 law, a number of people had been employed or given promotions who had been forcibly sacked from various institutions and departments by successive governments during 1996 and 2007. The SC, however, found that the SERA extended undue advantage to a certain class of citizens, thereby violating fundamental rights under Articles 4, 9 and 25 and being void under Article 8 of the Constitution.
