PIA, Turkish Airlines to extend codeshare agreement
The chief executive officer (CEO) of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Arshad Malik, has paid a one-day visit to Turkey for discussing the alternative plan for flight restoration to European countries.

During his visit, Arshad Malik held meetings with the chief executive officer (CEO) and chairman of the Turkish Airlines. The PIA and Turkish Airlines have agreed to extend codeshare agreement for the restoration of the national carrier’s flights to Europe.

The high-ups of Turkish Airlines requested the PIA CEO for collaboration in cargo services. Malik and Turkish officials also discussed plans for initiating flight operations to Istanbul and other administrative matters in the meetings.

Upon the arrival of Arshad Malik, he was warmly welcomed by the Turkish authorities by the digital screens of the Istanbul Airport.

In July, Turkish Airlines had okayed for code-sharing agreement with the national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Under the new agreement, the passengers of national carrier could travel to different destinations in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe.

The foreign airline had shown agreement for code sharing with PIA after accepting the offer of the chief executive officer (CEO) Air Marshal Arshad Malik in a response letter.

The agreement will allow both airlines for code sharing for different destinations in the UK and Europe including Birmingham, London, Milan Barcelona, Copenhagen and Oslo. PIA passengers will be able to book their tickets of Turkish Airlines to European routes from Istanbul airport.

The codeshare agreement will be activated between PIA and Turkish Airlines in view of the suspension of flight operations of the national carrier in Britain, Europe and United States (US) due to dubious licences of Pakistanis pilots.

Six more die in rain-related incidents in Karachi

At least six people lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Friday as heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi, bringing up the toll in three days to 14. Four soldiers martyred in gun battle with terrorists in North Waziristan: ISPR

Four soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan's Hassan Khel area during an exchange of fire with terrorists who attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between March 23 and March 24, the military's media affairs wing said on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan at midnight, but their attempt was foiled due to the "alertness and timely response of army troops". The terrorists, however, retaliated by opening fire, the statement said, adding that the soldiers "reciprocated in a befitting manner". Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Saudi princess freed after three years in jail

Saudi authorities have released a princess and her daughter who had been held without charge for nearly three years in the capital, a human rights group said on Saturday. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
