Hospitals dealing with influx of COVID-19 patients: Dr Faisal
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Saturday cautioned that the situation can go worse if masses continue to violate COVID-19 SOPs.

“Currently the hospitals across the country are dealing with the influx of COVID-19 patients,” Dr Faisal Sultan said while addressing a press conference.

Observing the highest number of infections being reported in Punjab, Dr Faisal urged masses to completely adhere to the health-related SOPs.

It is our responsibility to wear face masks in public places.

About vaccination, the SAPM said that citizens above 70 years, can get themselves vaccinated from anywhere, there is no barrier for them.

Earlier in the day, coronavirus claimed 42 more lives in Pakistan during the past 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 13,799.

The latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) showed the COVID-19 has claimed 42 more lives and 3,876 fresh infections were reported during the period.

The total count of active cases is 29,576. The positivity ratio was recorded at 9.46 per cent during the past one day

The spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban on Monday declared that the war in the country is over, saying that the group desires peaceful relations with the world. Sindh govt seeks army's help in implementation of coronavirus SOPs

The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. On the other hand, Sindh information ministry Nasir Hussain Shah has warned that the provincial government will impose a lockdown if the situation turns alarming in Sindh. North Korea imported more than 1 million facial masks and 15,000 pairs of rubber gloves from China in July, shortly before declaring victory over Covid-19, Chinese trade showed on Saturday. Pyongyang last week declared victory over the coronavirus, ending a little-detailed fight against “fever” cases that had risen to 4.77 million. It has registered no new such cases since July 29. Still, China exported 1.23 million facial masks to North Korea in July, worth $44,307, surging from 17,000 the previous month, according to data released by Chinese customs. From January to July, the last month for which data is available, the North bought more than 11.93 million masks from China, data showed. The euro , seen as vulnerable to a Federal Reserve hike especially if European rate rises lag, dropped 0.4% on Thursday and was steady in Asia at $1.1297.
