NAB Summons Maryam Nawaz in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has once again summoned PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz for questioning in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

Daughter of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been asked to turn up at the NAB Lahore office on March 26. They said she will be quizzed in light of the new evidence the bureau has received.

The sources said the PML-N leader faces charges of alleged involvement in money laundering.

The national graft buster had summoned Maryam last year in August but cancelled her hearing after clash erupted between PML-N supporters and the police personnel outside the bureau’s Lahore office ahead of her arrival there.

It is noteworthy that the NAB has also moved a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking cancellation of her bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case for not cooperating with the NAB in its investigation against her.

A two-member bench of the LHC comprising Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Asjad Giral heard the plea and issued a notice to Maryam to file her response to the bail cancellation plea by next hearing.

The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The development came during a meeting of Opposition party leaders in Islamabad, where they decided to form a committee that would draft a plan of action to move the no-confidence motion. The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. Four soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan's Hassan Khel area during an exchange of fire with terrorists who attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between March 23 and March 24, the military's media affairs wing said on Thursday.
