Opposing the proposal of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the opposition parties should not resign from the Parliament.

Talking to journalists following a dinner at Zardari House in Islamabad, Bilawal said that a wrong impression was being created that some senators belonging to the opposition parties had deliberately wasted their votes.

He maintained that all the senators belonging to PDM had cast their votes to Yousaf Raza Gillani. There was no split within the opposition alliance, he said, adding the all the opposition parties were united under the umbrella of PDM.

Earlier today, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman had conveyed a suggestion of resigning from the assemblies to the head of the parties included in the opposition alliance.

According to sources privy to the discussion within the opposition alliance, the PDM head had reached out to PML-N General Secretary Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and consulted over the option to resign from the assemblies.

“Besides leading long march to Islamabad, the PDM should mull over resigning from the assemblies,” the JUI-F chief had said during the conversation adding that the move could prove effective against the incumbent government.

Sindh govt seeks army's help in implementation of coronavirus SOPs

The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. North Korea imported more than 1 million facial masks and 15,000 pairs of rubber gloves from China in July, shortly before declaring victory over Covid-19, Chinese trade showed on Saturday. Pyongyang last week declared victory over the coronavirus, ending a little-detailed fight against “fever” cases that had risen to 4.77 million. It has registered no new such cases since July 29. Still, China exported 1.23 million facial masks to North Korea in July, worth $44,307, surging from 17,000 the previous month, according to data released by Chinese customs.
