Scientists use facial recognition technology on skyrim skeleton

A cranial reconstruction research team, Ancesteral Whispers, used facial recognition software to revive a skeleton model from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Sukalmakh, part of the research group, tweeted a picture of grumpy cave man that had been reconstructed from an ancient Atmoran specimen from Saarthal dating to the late Merethic Era. Atmora is a continent in the Elder Scrolls world and Saarthal is the ruined capital of Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls is a series of action role-playing video games developed by Bethesda Game Studios, thus the 'Merethic era' is also an Elder Scrolls period of time.

The tweet won praise from Bethesda developer, Jonah Lobe, who worked on Skyrim and had designed the skeleton, commented that the team had done an "awesome job with the reconstruction". He thought the 'intimidating' look with heavy brows and big teeth.

Ancestral Whispers is an organisation that specialises in facial reconstruction of prehistoris humans, using a software based archeologist and anthropolgist, Mikhail Gerasimov. In the reconstruction, soft tissue is layered on to cranal structure, to present an actual representation of a person who may have lived.

Western sanctions against Russia could cause the International Space Station to crash, the head of Russian space agency Roscosmos warned on Saturday, calling for the punitive measures to be lifted. The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Army personnel removed rainwater from underpasses located at Golimar, Golimar and KPT, adding that these underpasses have been reopened for traffic. Monsoon rains add to Karachi’s woes, kill two youngsters

A powerful monsoon system formed in the Arabian Sea caused torrential downpours in various parts of Karachi Sunday evening, but it claimed the lives of two youngsters. According to the police, a woman and her three-month-old daughter fell into a flooded nullah in the Buffer Zone area while they were passing through on a motorbike.
