Tennis star Sania Mirza donates her racquet to Aisam-ul-Haq's charity foundation

Tennis star Sania Mirza donated her racquet to Pakistani tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq for his charity foundation Stars Against Hunger.

The tennis stars from Pakistan and India met in Dubai on Saturday, as Aisam was in UAE for a transit stay while on his way back from the Sofia Open tour in Bulgaria.

Sania’s husband and Pakistan’s former cricket captain Shoaib Malik was also present as the celebrity couple hosted Aisam for lunch.

“I couldn’t meet Sania earlier when she was in Pakistan as I was on tennis tour. So, it was an opportunity for me to meet an old friend,” Aisam told.

“She was kind enough to donate her tennis racquet to me for my organisation Stars Against Hunger,” the Pakistani tennis star added.

Several tennis stars including Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have donated their tennis items for Aisam’s charity that is supporting people affected due to the ongoing pandemic.

Aisam said that Sania is an old friend and if he was in Pakistan earlier, he would have hosted her and Malik in Lahore.

The Indian tennis star was recently in Pakistan to meet her in-laws and to watch Pakistan Super League games in which her husband Shoaib Malik represented Peshawar Zalmi.

Six more die in rain-related incidents in Karachi

At least six people lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Friday as heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi, bringing up the toll in three days to 14. Following a rain forecast, different areas of the port city continued to receive moderate to heavy showers under the influence of a monsoon system that is present over Karachi. Four soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan's Hassan Khel area during an exchange of fire with terrorists who attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between March 23 and March 24, the military's media affairs wing said on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan at midnight, but their attempt was foiled due to the "alertness and timely response of army troops". The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
