Police reach Bani Gala to disperse PTI workers

Bani Gala, Islamabad
A heavy contingent of police reached Bani Gala in the wee hours of Saturday to disperse Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers guarding PTI chief Imran Khan s residence.

According to sources, the police contingent comprising Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Branch personnel reached Bani Gala to disperse the PTI workers.

Police sources said that the search operation in Bani Gala is being launched due to security concerns. Police sources also said that the operation is not launched to arrest any PTI worker.

PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur reached Bani Gala after the incident. The PTI workers who are guarding the residence of their leader also came out of their tents and raised slogans against the government.

Meanwhile, police contingent left the scene without carrying out any seach operation.

Dollar waits on CPI, yuan bounces back from policy knock

 The dollar was largely unchanged in early European trade Friday ahead of the release of key U.S. inflation data, which could influence Federal Reserve monetary policy thinking into the new year. The euro , seen as vulnerable to a Federal Reserve hike especially if European rate rises lag, dropped 0.4% on Thursday and was steady in Asia at $1.1297. Biden urges calm in first call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas

US President Joe Biden urged calm between Israel and Gaza on Saturday and affirmed his support for a two-state solution in his first phone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas since taking office, the official Palestinian news agency said. Sindh govt seeks army's help in implementation of coronavirus SOPs

The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. North Korea imported Chinese masks before declaring Covid victory

North Korea imported more than 1 million facial masks and 15,000 pairs of rubber gloves from China in July, shortly before declaring victory over Covid-19, Chinese trade showed on Saturday. Pyongyang last week declared victory over the coronavirus, ending a little-detailed fight against “fever” cases that had risen to 4.77 million. It has registered no new such cases since July 29. Still, China exported 1.23 million facial masks to North Korea in July, worth $44,307, surging from 17,000 the previous month, according to data released by Chinese customs. Body of 14-year-old boy found in Lahore

Police on Thursday recovered a body of a 14-year-old boy from a house in Uch Sharif, an area located in Punjab’s district of Bahawalpur. According to police, the body of the boy was found from a house in Basti Jamra in Uch Sharif and the people living in the house have vacated the premises. Abdul Hameed, father of the deceased boy said, a friend of his son named Farhan took with him and later his body was found. The police is investigating the matter. The body has been shifted to the hospital for autopsy. Last month, a seven-year-old girl was killed after being kidnapped in Lahore.
