Van catches fire at M9 motorway ,13 Passenger killed in Karachi

At least 13 passengers were burnt to death and six others sustained severe injuries when a passenger van they were travelling caught fire after an accident at M9 motorway.

According to motorway police, the ill-fated passenger van overturned near cement factory after the vehicle’s tie-rod end collapsed. The van caught fire due to a short circuit.

Rescue officials, after being informed rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and the injured to Nooriabad hospital.

A passenger van, carrying 22 passengers, was coming from Hyderabad to Karachi when it overturned near a cement factory–40 kilometers away from Karachi toll plaza.

At least eight passengers died on the spot.

 The dollar was largely unchanged in early European trade Friday ahead of the release of key U.S. inflation data, which could influence Federal Reserve monetary policy thinking into the new year. The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. North Korea imported more than 1 million facial masks and 15,000 pairs of rubber gloves from China in July, shortly before declaring victory over Covid-19, Chinese trade showed on Saturday. Pyongyang last week declared victory over the coronavirus, ending a little-detailed fight against “fever” cases that had risen to 4.77 million. It has registered no new such cases since July 29. Still, China exported 1.23 million facial masks to North Korea in July, worth $44,307, surging from 17,000 the previous month, according to data released by Chinese customs. Body of 14-year-old boy found in Lahore

Police on Thursday recovered a body of a 14-year-old boy from a house in Uch Sharif, an area located in Punjab’s district of Bahawalpur. According to police, the body of the boy was found from a house in Basti Jamra in Uch Sharif and the people living in the house have vacated the premises. Abdul Hameed, father of the deceased boy said, a friend of his son named Farhan took with him and later his body was found. The police is investigating the matter. The body has been shifted to the hospital for autopsy. Last month, a seven-year-old girl was killed after being kidnapped in Lahore.
