14 Die , 26 INJURED IN RAIN-RELATED INCIDENTS IN KP: PDMA
At least 14 people were killed and 26 injured in different rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), reported on Thursday.

According to a report by Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at least four houses were completely destroyed and 21 were partially damaged during recent spell of heavy rains and floods.

14 people were killed and 26 sustained injuries. The PDMA has directed the district administration of the affected districts to expedite the relief work.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast fairlywidespread to widespreadrainfall coupled with thunderstorm gusty winds in Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Swat, Lower and Upper Dir, Bajaur, Malakand, Chitral, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mohmand, Khyber, Kohat,Hangu, Karak, Kurram, Orakzai, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Tank, and South Waziristan districts.

It warned that moderate-heavy rainfall could generate flash floods in nullahs and streams of those districts and trigger landslides and urban flooding in different parts of the province.

Taliban declare war in Afghanistan over, call for peaceful relations with world

The spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban on Monday declared that the war in the country is over, saying that the group desires peaceful relations with the world. The statement comes a day after the Afghan Taliban entered Kabul as President Ashraf Ghani left the country, saying he wanted avoid bloodshed and conflict. Western sanctions against Russia could cause the International Space Station to crash, the head of Russian space agency Roscosmos warned on Saturday, calling for the punitive measures to be lifted. According to Dmitry Rogozin, the sanctions, some of which predate Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, could disrupt the operation of Russian spacecraft servicing the ISS. Pakistan Army on Monday continued its relief and rescue operation in Karachi, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Army personnel removed rainwater from underpasses located at Golimar, Golimar and KPT, adding that these underpasses have been reopened for traffic. However, the dewatering process was continued in various areas inundated with rainwater, read the statement. The Army personnel were also shifting vehicles trapped in rainwater to safe locations and removing other obstacles from the major thoroughfares in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city. Sindh govt seeks army's help in implementation of coronavirus SOPs

The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. On the other hand, Sindh information ministry Nasir Hussain Shah has warned that the provincial government will impose a lockdown if the situation turns alarming in Sindh. President Dr Arif Alvi Thursday signed the Election (Amendment) Bill, 2021, which had earlier been passed by the Parliament and asked opposing voices not to be afraid of “simple” electronic voting machines (EVMs) which he hoped would help in holding a fair election and bringing an end to rigging. “People will have to trust it. It involves no advancement. It is too simple. The country achieves progress by adopting new things,” the president said while addressing a ceremony.
