Pakistan records 2,714 fresh corona cases in 24 hours
The COVID-19 positivity ratio has dropped down to 4.78 per cent during the last 24 hours in Pakistan,   on Wednesday reported National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).

During the last 24 hours, 73 people lost their lives, lifting the overall death toll to 26,938. The daily tests conducted during the period to determine COVID-19 infections were 56,733 out of which 2,714 turned up positive.
Overall 1,108,339 people have recovered their health back from the pandemic, including 10,923 in the past 24 hours.

5,122 people are still in critical condition.
On Tuesday, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that the positive cases of COVID-19 are gradually coming down in the country.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, Umar was confident that the situation will further improve in the next fifteen days and reduce the existing pressure on the hospitals.
He had however warned that the threat is not over.

The minister for Planning said tougher restrictions were imposed in twenty four districts earlier this month to curb the spread of the virus.

He had expressed satisfaction that the situation has now improved in eighteen districts.

Taliban declare war in Afghanistan over, call for peaceful relations with world

The spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban on Monday declared that the war in the country is over, saying that the group desires peaceful relations with the world. The statement comes a day after the Afghan Taliban entered Kabul as President Ashraf Ghani left the country, saying he wanted avoid bloodshed and conflict. Sindh govt seeks army's help in implementation of coronavirus SOPs

The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. On the other hand, Sindh information ministry Nasir Hussain Shah has warned that the provincial government will impose a lockdown if the situation turns alarming in Sindh. North Korea imported more than 1 million facial masks and 15,000 pairs of rubber gloves from China in July, shortly before declaring victory over Covid-19, Chinese trade showed on Saturday. Pyongyang last week declared victory over the coronavirus, ending a little-detailed fight against “fever” cases that had risen to 4.77 million. It has registered no new such cases since July 29. Still, China exported 1.23 million facial masks to North Korea in July, worth $44,307, surging from 17,000 the previous month, according to data released by Chinese customs. From January to July, the last month for which data is available, the North bought more than 11.93 million masks from China, data showed.  The dollar was largely unchanged in early European trade Friday ahead of the release of key U.S. inflation data, which could influence Federal Reserve monetary policy thinking into the new year. The euro , seen as vulnerable to a Federal Reserve hike especially if European rate rises lag, dropped 0.4% on Thursday and was steady in Asia at $1.1297. The dollar index , at 96.197, was drifting toward its seventh consecutive weekly rise ahead of the data, which is due at 1330 GMT.
