First cargo of Euro-5 diesel reaches Karachi
In line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative of ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ programme, the first cargo vessel of Euro-5 diesel on Thursday reached Karachi.

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has become the first MOC to introduce Euro-5 diesel. The government had set the target to import the latest fuel by January 2021.

Earlier this year, the federal government had decided to shift petrol and diesel from Euro- 2 to higher-quality Euro-5.

The historical decision was taken in the federal cabinet meeting held under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan. PM Imran Khan had approved the plan to make a shift to the higher-quality fuel standards in Pakistan.

PM’s Adviser on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam had said that the premier had promised to increase the quality of petrol and it has=d been fulfilled. He had added that petrol would be shifted to Euro-5 from August, whereas, diesel’s standard would be shifted from January 2021.

Aslam had said that 70 per cent petrol and 40 per cent diesel are being imported and Pakistan will become the first country to shift fuel standards from Euro-2 to Euro-5. He added that only Euro-5 fuel will be available in the smog-hit areas.

The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The development came during a meeting of Opposition party leaders in Islamabad, where they decided to form a committee that would draft a plan of action to move the no-confidence motion. Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, received a briefing from the Climate Change Ministry on the effects of climate change in the country. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
