Centre has a liking for Punjab, KP CMs because they 'remain silent': Wahab

Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab claimed on Sunday that the federal government had a liking for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief ministers because they "remain silent”.

"They like 'mute' people like Usman Buzdar. They like KP CM because he remains silent,” said Wahab, at a press conference in Karachi.

The Sindh government spokesperson said that Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah is not liked by the federal government as he "does not remain quiet".

He added that if CM Shah raises his voice, it is "a good thing".

Wahab also slammed the federal government for the allocations made in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

The law minister said that schemes for KP, Balochistan and Punjab are visible in the PSDP allocation but Sindh, "which fuels the country's economy, does not even have the allocation for a single project in the programme".

“Sindh is not given its rights [but] Sindh cannot be ignored,” said Wahab.

Wahab also slammed Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry for his statement on the audit of Sindh. Chaudhry had said that the Centre would carry out the audit of the funds given to Sindh by the federal government.

“You are not doing us any favours by giving us money. It is not your father’s money, this is our constitutional right,” said Wahab. He added that the federal ministers had "no idea" what it is they have to do and were only able to give statements.

The provincial government spokesperson regretted that the federal ministers ridicule the Sindh government for not giving any authority to the local governments. He said that the PTI government did not let any local government work across Pakistan.

“Local governments completed their terms only in Sindh,” said Wahab.

The spokesperson also shared that Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has rejected the Sindh Protection of Journalists and Other Media Practitioners Bill 2021 that was approved by the Sindh Assembly. He said that the assembly will once again pass the bill and send it back to the governor for approval.

Sindh govt seeks army's help in implementation of coronavirus SOPs

The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. North Korea imported more than 1 million facial masks and 15,000 pairs of rubber gloves from China in July, shortly before declaring victory over Covid-19, Chinese trade showed on Saturday. Pyongyang last week declared victory over the coronavirus, ending a little-detailed fight against “fever” cases that had risen to 4.77 million. It has registered no new such cases since July 29. Still, China exported 1.23 million facial masks to North Korea in July, worth $44,307, surging from 17,000 the previous month, according to data released by Chinese customs. Body of 14-year-old boy found in Lahore

Police on Thursday recovered a body of a 14-year-old boy from a house in Uch Sharif, an area located in Punjab’s district of Bahawalpur. According to police, the body of the boy was found from a house in Basti Jamra in Uch Sharif and the people living in the house have vacated the premises. Abdul Hameed, father of the deceased boy said, a friend of his son named Farhan took with him and later his body was found. The police is investigating the matter. The body has been shifted to the hospital for autopsy. Last month, a seven-year-old girl was killed after being kidnapped in Lahore.
