Pakistan records 991 fresh corona cases, 27 deaths
Pakistan reported 991 new cases of the coronavirus over the last 24 hours, data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday showed.

The NCOC said 27 more people succumbed to the disease during this period, taking the nationwide death toll to 21,940.

Pakistan recorded a coronavirus positivity rate of 2.14 per cent as of the total 46,269 samples tested for the presence of the infection, 991 were declared positive. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 947,218.
The number of active cases stands at 35,491 while the total number of people who have recovered from the infection ever since the pandemic began in the country has climbed to 873,543 as 1,282 more recuperated during the last 24 hours.

On June 18, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin chaired a high-level session to review measures for ensuring the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine across the country.

The session was attended by NCOC head Asad Umar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, Federal Minister For Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan and others.

Umar said that steps are being taken to ensure an uninterrupted supply of the COVID-19 vaccine. All countries are adopting measures for ensuring the availability of vaccines. He added that the country is facing a financial load of payments for advanced vaccine

The spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban on Monday declared that the war in the country is over, saying that the group desires peaceful relations with the world. Sindh govt seeks army's help in implementation of coronavirus SOPs

The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. North Korea imported more than 1 million facial masks and 15,000 pairs of rubber gloves from China in July, shortly before declaring victory over Covid-19, Chinese trade showed on Saturday. Pyongyang last week declared victory over the coronavirus, ending a little-detailed fight against “fever” cases that had risen to 4.77 million. It has registered no new such cases since July 29. Still, China exported 1.23 million facial masks to North Korea in July, worth $44,307, surging from 17,000 the previous month, according to data released by Chinese customs. From January to July, the last month for which data is available, the North bought more than 11.93 million masks from China, data showed.
