Police arrest 52 kite flyers in Lahore
As many as 52 kite flyers have been taken into custody by the police in Lahore, reported on Monday.

As per details, the crackdown against people violating the kite flying ban across the Punjab province is underway and recent action 52 kite flyers have been taken into custody from the city’s Model Town division in the past 24 hours.

The police said 14 people violating the kite flying ban were taken into custody from the limits of PS Nishtar Colony, three from Kot Lakhpat, eight from Kahana, five from PS Achra, 11 from Liaquatabad and four from Nasirabad.

Cases have been registered against the kite flyers.

On Sunday, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had sought a report from Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) about the death of a three-year-old girl who died after the string of a stray kite slit her throat.

The CM had expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the tragic incident, extending heart-felt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family.

Usman Buzdar had also expressed his indignation over the incidents of kite flying in Lahore. The CM directed the police to take a stern action against kite flyers, saying that such incidents were not tolerable at all. He also directed the police to strictly enforce the law of ban on kite flying.

Western sanctions against Russia could cause the International Space Station to crash, the head of Russian space agency Roscosmos warned on Saturday, calling for the punitive measures to be lifted. The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. Pakistan Army on Monday continued its relief and rescue operation in Karachi, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Army personnel removed rainwater from underpasses located at Golimar, Golimar and KPT, adding that these underpasses have been reopened for traffic. However, the dewatering process was continued in various areas inundated with rainwater, read the statement. Monsoon rains add to Karachi’s woes, kill two youngsters

A powerful monsoon system formed in the Arabian Sea caused torrential downpours in various parts of Karachi Sunday evening, but it claimed the lives of two youngsters. According to the police, a woman and her three-month-old daughter fell into a flooded nullah in the Buffer Zone area while they were passing through on a motorbike. The woman was rescued in an unconscious state, while a search for her daughter was initiated.
