Is Shahid Afridi replacing Sarfaraz Ahmed as Quetta Gladiators captain next PSL?

Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar on Tuesday said that former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi told him that he would join his Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise for the seventh season of the tournament.

"Shahid Afridi has also remained a part of the Galle Gladiators (a team which Omar owns as well) in the Lankan Premier League," the franchise owner said.

Omar said former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed is the incumbent captain, but if he were to voluntarily step down, "we can appoint Afridi in his place".

"In technique, Sarfaraz is number one," Omar added.

Quetta Gladiators' dream of winning a second PSL title was snuffed out last month after they crashed out of the tournament with Multan Sultans defeating them.

The Sarfaraz-led side did not perform well in the PSL 6, winning only two of the 10 matches they played in the tournament — finishing at the bottom of the points table.

The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, received a briefing from the Climate Change Ministry on the effects of climate change in the country. Four soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan's Hassan Khel area during an exchange of fire with terrorists who attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between March 23 and March 24, the military's media affairs wing said on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan at midnight, but their attempt was foiled due to the "alertness and timely response of army troops".
