Islamabad always supported Afghan Peace Process: FM Qureshi
Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that a peaceful Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s best interest.This he said while talking to his Chinese counterpart during a telephonic conversation. Both the leaders discussed the prevailing situation in the neighbouring country, Afghanistan.

FM Qureshi said peace in Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan and added that Islamabad always supported Afghan Peace Process. Lauding the role of China, Qureshi said both Islamabad and Beijing played their role for enduring peace and stability in Kabul.

The foreign minister informed his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi about the decisions made in the recent National Security Committee (NSC) meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He called upon the international community to continue supporting Afghanistan for the betterment of the people.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is likely to visit the neighbouring countries to gain their confidence amid the major developments in Afghanistan.

Pakistan has decided to take the neighbouring countries into confidence during an important phase of the transfer of power in Afghanistan, diplomatic sources told ARY News.

Sources said that FM Qureshi will pay visits to Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran from August 25 to 27. The foreign minister will the governments of the neighbouring countries to discuss the Afghanistan situation and the crucial phase of power transfer.

Six more die in rain-related incidents in Karachi

At least six people lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Friday as heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi, bringing up the toll in three days to 14. Following a rain forecast, different areas of the port city continued to receive moderate to heavy showers under the influence of a monsoon system that is present over Karachi. The most rain was recorded in the Gulshan-e-Hadeed neighbourhood, which received 94.7mm of rain during two spells. Four soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan's Hassan Khel area during an exchange of fire with terrorists who attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between March 23 and March 24, the military's media affairs wing said on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan at midnight, but their attempt was foiled due to the "alertness and timely response of army troops". The terrorists, however, retaliated by opening fire, the statement said, adding that the soldiers "reciprocated in a befitting manner". Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
