WhatsApp rolls out new colours for Android

WhatsApp has launched a new update for the Android Beta Programme, WABetaInfo reported Monday.

The platform said that the update was submitted through the Google Play Beta Programme, bringing the version up to 2.21.18.1.

What’s new in this update?

The update is bringing a lot of changing colours to our WhatsApp's Android application.

WABetaInfo reported that the changes are most visible on the chat screen. Users will see different colours for the chat bubbles, the send button, and the navigation bar.

New colours have been introduced for both the light mode and the dark mode.

Other elements include a new coloured ring for status updates. Besides the colour change, there is also the possibility of a darker wallpaper and new icons for the chat share sheet.

For the light theme, WhatsApp has updated the colour of the navigation bar which can be seen in the picture shared by WABetaInfo.

The new colours will be available from August 23 for beta testers.

The new update is also bringing back the creation date for groups that WhatsApp had previously removed.

The update has also replaced “Type a message” with “Message” for users.

The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The development came during a meeting of Opposition party leaders in Islamabad, where they decided to form a committee that would draft a plan of action to move the no-confidence motion. Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, received a briefing from the Climate Change Ministry on the effects of climate change in the country. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
