CM Punjab announced establishment of a labour tower in Lahore

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar announced the establishment of a labour tower in Lahore on a land evacuated during anti-encroachment drive, besides also reviewing construction of hostels for industrial workers.

Chairing a meeting of the labour department, the chief minister said that the labour tower would be established by the provincial department. He also directed to complete a project of 720 flats for labourers as soon as possible.

“We have retrieved 144 labour flats from land mafia besides also raising the minimum wages of labourers to Rs20,000, which included Rs5,000 increase during last two and a half year,” he said while sharing measures taken by the government for improving the condition of labour class in the province.

The meeting also decided to establish employees social security institutions and workers welfare fund smart organization.

The COMSATS will establish a campus on the land provided by the labour department and in return, 30 percent of the admissions will be provided to the children of labourers.

“We are also establishing social security hospitals in Taunsa, Sargodha, Faisalabad,” Usman Buzdar said while also directing stringent measures to end child labour in the province.

The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
