Corona claims 88 more people across the country
The coronavirus killed 88 more people across the country over the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from the disease to 20,177.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, the national tally of confirmed cases rose to 897,468 with 4,007 more testing positive for the virus during the same period.
A total of 62,238 samples were tested, out of which 4,007 turned out to be positive. The positivity ratio was recorded at 6.43%. 3,712 more people recuperated from the disease, pushing the number of those recovering to 813,855.

There were 4,412 infected patients in critical care in variou hospitals in the past 24 hours.

Thus far, Punjab has reported 333,057 infections, Sindh 306,707, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 129,013, Islamabad 80,156, Balochistan 24,413, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 18,651 and Gilgit Baltistan 5,471.

On Friday, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) decided to start Covid-19 vaccination for citizens aged 30 and above from today (Saturday).

Taking to his official Twitter account, Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar, who heads the NCOC, announced that, “In today’s National Command Operation Center (NCOC) meeting it has been decided to open up vaccination for 30 years and older starting tomorrow.”

“The messages for those who are being scheduled will go out today.”

Western sanctions against Russia could cause the International Space Station to crash, the head of Russian space agency Roscosmos warned on Saturday, calling for the punitive measures to be lifted. According to Dmitry Rogozin, the sanctions, some of which predate Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, could disrupt the operation of Russian spacecraft servicing the ISS. The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. On the other hand, Sindh information ministry Nasir Hussain Shah has warned that the provincial government will impose a lockdown if the situation turns alarming in Sindh. Pakistan Army on Monday continued its relief and rescue operation in Karachi, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Army personnel removed rainwater from underpasses located at Golimar, Golimar and KPT, adding that these underpasses have been reopened for traffic. However, the dewatering process was continued in various areas inundated with rainwater, read the statement. Monsoon rains add to Karachi’s woes, kill two youngsters

A powerful monsoon system formed in the Arabian Sea caused torrential downpours in various parts of Karachi Sunday evening, but it claimed the lives of two youngsters. According to the police, a woman and her three-month-old daughter fell into a flooded nullah in the Buffer Zone area while they were passing through on a motorbike. The woman was rescued in an unconscious state, while a search for her daughter was initiated.
