Shehbaz’s name put on ECL, Shiekh Rasheed
PML-N President and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif cannot fly out of the country as his name has been put on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Addressing a press conference today (Monday), Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed announced that Shehbaz’s name has been placed on the no-fly list after approval of the federal cabinet.
“The case against Shehbaz Sharif would have suffered delays if he was permitted to fly out of the country,” Rasheed opined. “Five members of the Sharif family have already absconded,” he said.

He said Shehbaz is himself a guarantor of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Who is in London, and instead of bringing him back to the country, he tried to flee himself.

“Nawaz Sharif didn’t return to the country, how would Shehbaz have flown back?” he asked.

He said the opposition leader booked a flight to Qatar the day the Lahore High Court granted him one-time permission to fly abroad.

“Shehbaz faces a Rs7 billion asset case. It would be difficult to bring him back if he flees abroad,” the interior minister said. Four people have already turned approvers in the case against Shehbaz, he revealed.

On May 8, the PML-N leader was offloaded from a Qatar-bound flight at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore. Shehbaz was issued a boarding pass with his luggage scanned but was stopped from boarding the plane due to his name still being on the blacklist, sources relayed.

Six more die in rain-related incidents in Karachi

At least six people lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Friday as heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi, bringing up the toll in three days to 14. Following a rain forecast, different areas of the port city continued to receive moderate to heavy showers under the influence of a monsoon system that is present over Karachi. The most rain was recorded in the Gulshan-e-Hadeed neighbourhood, which received 94.7mm of rain during two spells. Four soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan's Hassan Khel area during an exchange of fire with terrorists who attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between March 23 and March 24, the military's media affairs wing said on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan at midnight, but their attempt was foiled due to the "alertness and timely response of army troops". The terrorists, however, retaliated by opening fire, the statement said, adding that the soldiers "reciprocated in a befitting manner". The Opposition has decided to jointly move a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, sources said Wednesday, after two days of ruckus in the Lower House. The development came during a meeting of Opposition party leaders in Islamabad, where they decided to form a committee that would draft a plan of action to move the no-confidence motion. Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, received a briefing from the Climate Change Ministry on the effects of climate change in the country. Saudi princess freed after three years in jail

Saudi authorities have released a princess and her daughter who had been held without charge for nearly three years in the capital, a human rights group said on Saturday. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
