No change in petrol prices as PM Imran rejects hike proposal
Prices of petroleum products will remain the same till 31st of May as Prime Minister Imran Khan has turned down a proposal by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority for an increase in fuel prices.

Taking to social networking website, Twitter, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said that the prices of petroleum products would remain unchanged for May.

PM Imran Khan did not want to put the burden on the people despite increasing prices in the international market, he added.

In a bid to provide relief to the masses, the government will bear an additional burden of Rs 2.77 billion, the state minister added.

Therefore, petrol will continue to be sold at Rs108.56 per litre, high-speed diesel Rs110.76 per litre, kerosene oil Rs80, and light diesel oil Rs77.65 per litre.

Earlier today, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had forwarded a summary to the Petroleum Division seeking upward revision of fuel prices.

The sources had said the regulatory authority had recommended a Rs1.90 increase in per litre price of petrol while a Rs3.25 increase in that of high-speed diesel.

Western sanctions against Russia could cause the International Space Station to crash, the head of Russian space agency Roscosmos warned on Saturday, calling for the punitive measures to be lifted. The government of Sindh has sought help from the Pakistan Army in implementing coronavirus SOPs as cases of the virus surge across the country. The provincial government has written to the Ministry of Interior, seeking the army's help for the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution. Sindh government said it would inform the interior ministry about details regarding troop employment and equipment after holding consultations over the matter. Pakistan Army on Monday continued its relief and rescue operation in Karachi, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Army personnel removed rainwater from underpasses located at Golimar, Golimar and KPT, adding that these underpasses have been reopened for traffic. Monsoon rains add to Karachi’s woes, kill two youngsters

A powerful monsoon system formed in the Arabian Sea caused torrential downpours in various parts of Karachi Sunday evening, but it claimed the lives of two youngsters. According to the police, a woman and her three-month-old daughter fell into a flooded nullah in the Buffer Zone area while they were passing through on a motorbike.
