Team formed to investigate Rawalpindi Ring Road project scam
The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) constituted on Monday a team to investigate the Rawalpindi Ring Road project scam, reported .

Punjab ACE Director General Mohammad Gohar formed the team comprising legal, technical and economic experts, according to a spokesperson for the anti-corruption department.

He said the ACE will apprise the nation about facts after the investigation.

The investigation into the Ring Road project scam was launched on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

It is noteworthy that a fact-finding inquiry committee detected large-scale irregularities in the Rawalpindi Ring Road project. The inquiry committee formed by the Punjab government revealed that former commissioner Muhammad Mehmood made illegal changes in the actual plan of the Rawalpindi Ring Road to benefit some influential persons.

Former LAC Waseem Tabish and former government officer Abdullah were also involved in the Ring Road project scam, said the report.

On May 17, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari resigned from his public office after an inquiry into the Rawalpindi Ring Road project alleged his involvement in corrupt practices.

In a series of tweets he posted earlier today, the PM’s aide said he has resigned ‘owing to the allegations in ongoing Ring Road inquiry’ until his name is ‘cleared up of any allegations’.

Former PM's close aide Shahzad Akbar's name placed on ECL

The federal cabinet amended the Exit Control List (ECL) on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, removing 22 names from the no-fly list and adding 10 people to it, while giving a one-time permission to three people to leave the country. Those added to the ECL included Shahzad Akbar, who served as adviser on interior and accountability to former prime minister Imran Khan, and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Both names were included in the ECL based on cases pertaining to a private housing scheme. Pakistan rejects illegal grant of IOK domicile certificates to Indians

Pakistan has categorically rejected the grant of domicile certificates of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) by the Indian authorities to reportedly 25,000 Indian nationals. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that the certificates issued to non-Kashmiris including, among others, the Indian government officials under “Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure), 2020” are illegal, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and International law including the 4th Geneva Convention.
